Hundreds of women displaced by Sudan’s civil war have sought refuge at al-Salam Goz camp in White Nile state.
Many are survivors of severe physical and sexual violence linked to the conflict.
One displaced woman, Amal Hassan, has begun offering psychological support to fellow survivors.
She organises informal gatherings to help women share experiences of trauma, rape and loss.
Amal, herself displaced from Khartoum, has also suffered personal loss during the war.
Her tent has become a free counselling space for thousands of women and girls in the camp.
Al Jazeera’s Mohamad Vall reports from Sudan’s Kosti on efforts to help survivors begin the healing process.
