Iranian foreign minister says ‘everything is in order’, constitutional procedures under way

Abbas Araghchi, in his interview with Al Jazeera, outlined the constitutional process following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Here is what he said:
“There is a procedure set out in our constitution, and we have now begun that process.
Today, a Transitional Council has been established, composed of the president, the head of the judiciary and one of the jurists of the Guardian Council.
This three-member body will assume leadership responsibilities until a new leader is elected. The Assembly of Experts will then oversee the election process, which I expect will take a short period of time — perhaps one or two days — to appoint a new leader for the country.
Everything is proceeding in accordance with our legal system and in line with the constitution.”
Iran’s foreign minister told Al Jazeera that the country has “begun a constitutional process, and the Transitional Council was established today and will work to manage affairs.”
He added: “We have no restrictions or limits in defending ourselves.”
